MPower Announces ''The Orange Conference'' to Help Nonprofits Strategize and Adopt Best Practices for Constituent Management and Fundraising

DALLAS, TEXAS (June 20, 2008) – MPower – which provides the most open, flexible, and powerful software for nonprofit constituent relationship management (CRM) and fundraising – today announced that it will host "The Orange Conference" (http://www.mpoweropen.com/orange) for clients, partners and other members of the philanthropic community on September 24-26 at the Embassy Suites and Frisco Convention Center, in Frisco, Texas, just north of Dallas.

Although MPower has hosted previous conferences for its community, this is the company's first conference since it moved to an open source model in March, so the name, "The Orange Conference," and theme, "Freedom to Fundraise," are new, reflecting the new corporate direction.

MPower now is available (through downloading with registration at www.mpoweropen.com) without licensing fees and with access to the source code, so a user can modify the software to meet his/her organization's unique needs. He/she also can easily integrate MPower with other applications that the nonprofit chooses for its CRM and fundraising system (as well as other daily operations across the organization). No other CRM and fundraising software solution for nonprofits provides this flexibility, or "freedom." Alternative solutions are "closed" - they do not allow for easy integration and modification, if any at all - so nonprofits are, in effect, held hostage by technology that may not meet their needs.

The three-day Orange Conference will feature special presentations and sessions by MPower experts, leading nonprofits and top industry consultants, covering the latest strategies, creative ideas and practical tips for optimizing donor management and fundraising, especially through use of open source CRM software.

Attendees will learn how to cultivate strong, valuable lifetime relationships with donors in today's multi-channel world - a world in which constituents and the nonprofits they support communicate with one another through an increasing array of channels, including direct mail, television and radio, online, telemarketing, mobile technologies, events, personal contact, newsletters, and subscriptions. Conference goers also will be able to network with and learn from their peers at other nonprofits and the broader MPower community of partners, developers, and other industry participants.

The conference's three tracks for breakout sessions include:

  • Fundraising, which will focus on current trends and the application of new technologies -- including open source CRM software -- to drive giving (with real-life examples), strategic advice, and tips from some of today's most marketing-savvy charitable groups.
  • Technology, which will provide detailed information about the latest and upcoming MPower product features and offerings. MPower users and those considering use of MPower can learn how the company is continuing to develop its software and also partnering with the open community for a more versatile and customizable product.
  • Operations, which will give MPower users a more granular understanding of product functionality for managing their organizations' daily operations including donation processing, fulfillment, event and volunteer management, call center and mail processing activity tracking, and major donor relations.

"The Orange Conference will be a great opportunity for people to learn how to use MPower more effectively to get the most value from their constituent relationships," said Randy McCabe, Founder and CEO, MPower. "The conference also will help attendees better understand what open source CRM software means for the nonprofit community. Plus, they will have a chance to meet and mingle with peers from other nonprofits as well as our partners - all in a relaxed and fun atmosphere."
