Hundreds of Nonprofit Organizations and Consultancies Adopt MPower's Free Open Source Constituent Relationship Management Software

Downloading is Brisk in First Seven Days; Visit MPower at This Week's 2008 Nonprofit Technology Conference in New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA (March 19, 2008) - More than 200 charitable organizations as well as consulting firms and professionals working in the philanthropic community now have downloaded MPower - the most open, flexible, and powerful, constituent relationship management (CRM) software for nonprofits - since it became available as an open source offering without licensing fees on March 11. (MPower is available for free downloading and use at www.mpoweropen.com.)

"MPower Open is going to revolutionize the nonprofit community," said Brenton Evans, Executive Vice President of MarriageToday and an MPower client. "By offering such a powerful CRM solution to all nonprofits without any big, upfront software investment, every nonprofit now has access to the most powerful constituent relationship and fundraising tool on the market."

To learn more and for a demo of the easiest to deploy and use CRM solution for nonprofits -including a look at the most advanced segmentation engine for fundraisers, visit MPower's booth at the 2008 Nonprofit Technology Conference, March 19-21, at the Sheraton New Orleans.

Open source software is computer software available at no charge (no license fees) to anyone for his/her use, including use of the source code. Access to the source code enables a user to modify and improve the software to meet his/her organization's unique needs, and to participate in the open community, which includes sharing innovations to the software. Open software is a critical alternative to proprietary software so clients are not "held hostage" from a technology standpoint. Open software gives an organization more control over adding new features to its system when needs arise - versus having to wait on a software vendor's roadmap which may move too slowly and/or not include specific functionality. Also, proprietary software forces you to pay for new modules or releases whether or not you need them. With open source software, you don't have to incur these costs.

"We're thrilled to see the nonprofit community adopting our software because charitable groups do such important work and should have open technology solutions that are just as robust and effective as those that are being widely adopted in the commercial sector," said Randy McCabe, Founder and CEO of MPower. "The feedback on our move to an open source offering has been overwhelmingly positive from developers - typically the early adopters of major technology innovations."
