Randy McCabe: Founder and CEO
Randy is a technology visionary with nearly two decades of experience leading highly successful firms from conception to profitability, managing businesses through both sides of mergers and acquisitions, and heading mature divisions of prominent, publicly traded companies.
Following major successes in the commercial sector, Randy founded MPower in December 2001 to make a difference in the world by helping nonprofits operate more efficiently and effectively. Randy and his team of seasoned technology professionals, with deep nonprofit domain expertise, have developed the only truly open and flexible solution enabling charitable organizations to track and understand their constituents, and automate ongoing communications, relationship development, marketing, and fundraising. Today, MPower is the leading provider of constituent relationship management (CRM) software, services and support for nonprofits of all sizes and missions.
Prior to MPower, Randy served as Senior Vice President and General Manager at Gaylord Digital, the online division of Gaylord Entertainment Company (NYSE: GET). At Gaylord, Randy led development of a Web content management, ecommerce, and online marketing platform utilized by every division of the company. Randy joined Gaylord when the entertainment and hospitality giant acquired Musicforce.com for $30 million - a company that Randy founded only 12 months earlier and which became the world's largest Christian music store.
Before starting Musicforce.com, Randy led a joint venture with Broadcast.com (now Yahoo! Broadcast) called LightSource.com - one of the most trafficked channels on Broadcast.com and a profitable business within 18 months of its founding. Prior to LightSource.com, Randy headed client service for the direct mail processing division of a fundraising agency for nonprofits around the world.
Randy serves on the board of directors of the Aphasia Hope Society as well as the partner advisory board of Convio. Randy and his wife actively support World Vision and Prison Fellowship. Randy has a BA in Communications from Wheaton College.
Leo D'Angelo: Chief Technology Officer
Leo is a renowned open technology advocate with more than two decades of experience founding successful technology companies and developing highly innovative software solutions for some of the biggest names in Corporate America.
Leo established himself as a leading-edge technologist in the late 1980s when he designed and implemented a groundbreaking, open technology infrastructure for Fidelity Investments' next-generation equity trading floor. He brings his longstanding passion for open solutions to MPower, where he heads software development, services and support functions, leading a team that has built and continually enhances the most open, flexible and powerful constituent relationship management (CRM) offering for nonprofits.
Most recently prior to MPower, Leo was CTO of Dragon Media, which provides email, Web marketing and lead generation solutions for higher education, including University of Phoenix, the largest online university. Before that, Leo served as Vice President of Product Development for Corprasoft, a top provider of software for Fortune 500 in-house legal departments. At Corprasoft, Leo worked with Aetna, Boeing, BMW North America, Goldman Sachs and Honeywell and helped orchestrate the company's acquisition.
Earlier, Leo was CTO of the world's largest provider of online fax services, J2 Global Communications, NASDAQGS: JCOM), during a period of tremendous growth - from $5 to more than $35 per share and to 9,000,000 customers worldwide. Leo joined J2 after the company acquired the firm he founded, Timeshift, which provided a communications platform for purchasing online communication services.
A user of open source software whenever possible, he participates in a variety of related development projects. Leo and his wife are active supporters of several local and national nonprofits including Daisy Girl Scouts, Big Brothers Big Sisters, We Are Change and National Right to Life. Leo has a BS in Computer Science from Saint Michael's College.
Bryan Klann: Chief Sales and Marketing Officer
Bryan Klann has more than a decade and a half of experience accelerating the sales and marketing functions for technology companies serving public sector organizations such as nonprofits and governmental agencies.
As MPower’s Chief Sales and Marketing Officer (CSMO), Bryan is responsible for acquisition of new clients, retention of existing clients and further building MPower’s brand equity throughout the nonprofit community.
With deep passion for the nonprofit community, Bryan and his team take a consultative approach to working with charitable organizations, helping them to: 1) evaluate MPower’s open and highly flexible platform for their constituent management and fundraising needs; and 2) select the right mix of support and services to get the most out of the MPower software solution.
Prior to joining MPower, Klann served as Vice President of Sales for the nonprofit division of Sage Software, one of the world’s leading providers of business process management software. Sage’s nonprofit division, well known for widely-used MIP Fund Accounting, helps more than 7,000 organizations (including American Lung Association, American Red Cross, Easter Seals, Goodwill Industries, Salvation Army and United Way) manage their accounting and fundraising processes. Under Klann's leadership, Sage’s nonprofit division achieved record growth with new customer acquisition increasing dramatically over three years.
Klann also has served as Senior Vice President of Sales for Austin-based Hart Intercivic, which is a market leader in public sector technology. Additionally, Klann has held management-level sales and business development positions with Hansen Information Technologies in Sacramento and Day Software AG of Basel, Switzerland.
Klann and his family are actively involved with several educational and spiritually-oriented nonprofit organizations, including First Foundations in Austin and Harmony Life House in Murphys, California.
Matt McCabe: Vice President of Community
Matt is one of today’s leading nonprofit consultants, with nearly a decade and a half of experience helping charitable organizations around the world optimize their online marketing and fundraising, integrated marketing, business process and organizational strategy, direct mail, and media and print campaigns.
His clients have included a “who’s who” of nonprofits, among them, World Vision, The Children's Society (UK), Tearfund, The ONE Campaign, American Red Cross, UNCF-the United Negro College Fund, Jewish National Fund, National Wildlife Federation, National Association of Realtors and Habitat for Humanity.
At MPower, Matt is in charge of cultivating a vibrant community to ensure that all users get the most value from the company’s open source software and can easily partner with one another on development as well as share applications and knowledge.
Prior to MPower, Matt was a Principal Consultant for Convio, the online constituent relationship management (CRM) company. Before Convio, Matt was Director of New Media at London-based Premier Media Group, where he helped implement a CRM system across the company’s properties, including several radio stations, an online television channel and four print magazines.
A recognized industry expert, Matt is a frequent speaker at nonprofit conferences and also writes for nonprofit trade publications and Web sites. He is on the Board of Directors of Cambridge, Mass.-based The Pendulum Project, which empowers grassroots organizations that support children in AIDS-affected regions of sub-Saharan Africa. Additionally, Matt is a member of the Institute of Direct Marketing in London. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Philosophy from Wheaton College.
Joe Petrasek: Chief Financial Officer
Joe has more than three decades of experience helping a wide variety of companies - from start-ups to industry leaders - accelerate and manage revenue growth, achieve profitability, and navigate mergers and acquisitions.
At MPower, Joe is in charge of forecasting, payroll, financial statements, accounts receivable, accounts payable and cash management. A longstanding member of the management team, he played a key role in the company's achievement of profitability within one year of its founding.
Prior to MPower, Joe was Director of Finance for Gaylord Digital - the online division of Gaylord Entertainment Company (NYSE: GET) - where he helped grow the business from inception to more than $15 million in annual revenues over a three-year-period.
Before Gaylord, Joe was with Allied Signal, Inc. (subsequently acquired by Honeywell International, NYSE: HON), initially as a financial analyst for the corporate aerospace division and subsequently as divisional controller for larger business units ($250 million-plus in annual revenues), including Kansas-based King Radio. Joe started his career in accounting at Bendix Corporation, the pioneer and industry leader in aircraft and automotive parts (eventually acquired by Allied and now part of Honeywell).
Active in the community, Joe has served as president of his local board of education and been a local YMCA board member. He also has been treasurer for a K-Life chapter. Joe holds a BA in major accounting] from Bloomfield College and an MBA in advanced accounting and taxation from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
Joe Stradinger: Vice President of Strategic and Corporate Development
A venture capitalist, technology consultant, real estate developer, and Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Joe has nearly two decades of experience building and managing successful businesses for industry leaders as well as founding and growing innovative, technology companies. As MPower’s head of strategic and corporate Development, Joe is responsible for leveraging the MPower Open platform for the industry by creating and partnering with new and complementary products and services for the MPower community.
Along with MPower’s founder and CEO, Randy McCabe, in 1998, Joe cofounded Musicforce.com, the Internet’s largest retailer of contemporary Christian music, then one of the fastest growing musical genres. Joe served as Musicforce’s Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer, and also as a member of the board of directors until a year later when Gaylord Entertainment (NYSE: GET) acquired the company for $30 million. Following the acquisition, Joe helped launch Gaylord Entertainment’s new Internet division, Gaylord Digital, where he was Vice President of Strategic Development, responsible for company investments, acquisitions, strategic partnerships, and also developing new markets and secondary product and service offerings.
Subsequently, Joe has put his entrepreneurial experience to work by founding and heading Exposition Ventures, LLC, which provides a broad range of financial advisory, business development, mergers and acquisitions, and capital raising services to private companies in the Southeastern United States. He also is the founder and owner of Stradway LLC, and Stradinger Investments LLC, which focus on real estate investments in domestic destination markets and fractional deeded ownership.
Joe started his career as a CPA with Arthur Andersen, initially based in Budapest where he performed business valuations to support the privatization efforts of former “Iron Curtain” countries. He then returned to the United States with Andersen to work as a business consultant to telecommunications giants including GTE and MCIWorldCom. Eventually, the firm tapped Joe to open a regional office in the southeastern United States, where he worked with major telecommunications and technology companies.
Joe is a board member of the Aphasia Hope Society, an organization he helped found after his father suffered a stroke and was simultaneously stricken with Aphasia. Joe also actively supports many national and local charities in his home state of Mississippi. Joe and his wife Catherine have three children. Joe holds a BS degree in accounting from Mississippi College.
