Director of Operational Excellence

Dallas-based MPower is the first open source company providing full-featured constituent relationship management software for nonprofit organizations. It is the most powerful, multi-channel relationship development solution for charitable groups, providing the control, options, flexibility, transparency, and ability to collaborate – all without license fees. MPower enables organizations to manage important daily operations (including donation processing, fulfillment, event and volunteer management, call center activity tracking and major donor relations) and also leverage key constituent data from all channels for marketing that builds strong, lifetime relationships. MPower serves hundreds of nonprofits of all sizes with diverse missions and constituencies, including some of the world’s largest and most sophisticated direct marketers.

The Director of Operational Excellence will participate in a highly collaborative effort between the executive team, the product development team, the sales and marketing team, and most important – the MPower Open Community. This individual will be responsible for delivering operational strategy recommendations and for managing the execution of a broad range of operational efficiency and effectiveness campaigns for MPower’s nonprofit clients.

Spending time in the market to understand the client problems and find innovative operational solutions for the broader market is an integral part of this position, as is active involvement in leveraging the MPower Open community for maximizing product value, solving client needs.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist executive team to develop complete product roadmap (features / functionality, technical infrastructure, marketing strategy) with concentration on prioritized features and corresponding justification
  • Complete ownership of conducting operational strategy projects and delivering final recommendation to the client
  • Serve as lead client consultant to develop and manage integrated marketing, fundraising, and membership and advocacy campaigns for nonprofit clients
  • Evolve MPower’s CRM methodology and best practices
  • Evolve MPower’s benchmarking of vertical market-specific of metrics related to operational and marketing effectiveness. Track changes to the metrics as campaigns are implemented
  • Serve as an internal resource for marketing, PR, training and sales
  • Work with sales team to insure they are equipped to sell operational and fundraising strategy and campaign management projects
  • Work with internal and/or external development resources to specify, prioritize, test, and deploy custom applications as needed per contracted engagements
  • Actively participate in MPower’s open source community, forums, blogs, etc.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelors degree or higher in Computer Science, Business, Marketing, Communications or business related studies or equivalent work experience
  • 5-7 years experience setting operational and fundraising strategy and running marketing campaigns (with hands-on experience using CRM tools)
  • Excellent computer/Internet skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, PowerPoint, Excel
  • Strong understanding of core direct marketing concepts, preferably some experience in nonprofit fundraising and/or advocacy
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong communication skills (oral & written); ability to simply convey complex concepts
  • Solid presentation, networking and negotiation skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the internal and client organization
  • History of establishing and evolving interactive best practices
  • Solid analytical and statistical skills
  • Highly motivated and flexible
  • Positive attitude, honesty, enthusiasm, and integrity
